This post concludes my recent interview with delightful author Margaret Feinberg.  (Enjoy interview parts 1 & 2 here.)  Her recommendation that we practice an "organic" faith in God that doesn't get mucked up with pollution, both the external and internal kinds, is a profoundly simple one.  And is beautifully appealing.  Why don't we do it?

Margaret, any thoughts on why it's human nature to complicate the ultimate relationship?

We make our relationship with God complicated because we want our relationship with God to be safe. And while God is many things, he is not safe. So we begin drawing lines that don’t really exist in our relationship with Him, others and within our own lives until we find ourselves trying to live a small patch of dirt that’s familiar and safe. God is inviting us to walk and even run through fields with Him, to discover the beauty of his redemption and breathe in the God-life that is found only through Jesus. Following God is not safe, but when done well, it is simple.

What would you most like to see readers of the organic God come away with from their read?

I would like to see readers falling in love with Jesus all over again—discovering God and the Bible in a whole new light—as a place of excitement, growth, exploration and discovery.

Margaret Feinberg is the author of over a dozen books including Twentysomething, What the Heck Am I Going to Do With My Life? and God Whispers.

Her newest book, the organic God, explores the amazing attributes of God and inspires us to strip down our faith. It provides us with a window into how we can remove the complications in our relationship with a holy God and  return to the childlike wonder of following Him in joy.

You can enjoy audio clips of her teaching from her website and see how easily she easily connects the practical with the spiritual.  She is authentic, genuine and refreshingly honest.

Did I mention wildly generous?
