Ascension Sheriff’s Office investigating how prison surveillance video of the fight landed on social media

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating how the jail security video was posted on social media.

The video shows a fight taking place inside Donaldsonville Jail over the weekend.

Ascension Sheriff Bobby Webre discovered the video on Monday, August 29.

A spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office told WAFB, “An internal review is currently underway to determine how, why and who posted the video. It is against our policies, procedures and protocols to broadcast security video without proper authorization. »

We are told that no correctional officer or inmate was injured during the altercation.

“Our correctional officers are challenged every day to keep our communities safe. I commend the men and women of the Ascension Parish Jail Division who are dedicated to the safety and well-being of our prison population and the safety and security of our faculty,” said the Sheriff Bobby Webre.
