Finding the right people to help you grow your business can be a challenge. That’s why I recommend looking for talent outside of your company. Outsourcing important tasks to experts could be the boost your business needs to grow quickly. One of the key tasks you can outsource to experts is marketing.

You may think hiring a marketing agency is a risk. It’s understandable to feel hesitant at first when first collaborating with a team outside your organization. But some risks are worth it when the benefits outweigh them.

1. Not hiring a digital marketing agency could cost you more

The number one reason businesses shy away from hiring a marketing agency is because they think it’s expensive. Often, a marketing agency can be a profitable strategy when you take into consideration a full-time employee’s salary, benefits, taxes, and PTO time.

Hesitating to hire experts could unnecessarily delay the growth of your business. A marketing agency can help your business grow faster and generate revenue faster. This will free you up to focus on working with your clients and running your business efficiently.

2. You decide which marketing efforts you want to outsource to a marketing agency

A digital marketing agency would typically have a menu of services. The advantage of using a marketing agency is that they would have the resources you would need that would take a lot of time and effort to build in-house.

Instead of wasting your time acquiring digital marketing expertise, you can access the experience and resources of an agency. Since marketing is their bread and butter, the agency will have the people and tools in place to start implementing your vision as soon as possible.

Talk to agency representatives to agree on the services and resources that would be best for you to take advantage of, given the stage of development of your business. For example, you might want to outsource specialized aspects of digital marketing such as SEO, media buying, or email marketing campaigns.

Research a digital marketing agency to see what each can do for you and negotiate the budget.

3. Help them help you achieve your marketing goals

For a digital marketing agency team to be most helpful to you, they need to understand your vision. If they don’t understand who you are, your values, your branding, and your marketing goals, their efforts won’t produce the results you’re looking for.

Make sure the hired team has enough material to learn more about your brand so they can design campaigns with your voice. Develop brand guidelines to follow, reflecting the look and feel of your brand. This way, no matter who joins their team, they all have the same understanding of your brand.

The agency will also need to understand your technology stack and the tools you use to collect and analyze your business performance. They will need access to your means of declaration and your data. Establishing clear channels of access, sharing and communication will reduce friction, increasing the efficiency and speed of executing your vision on their side.

4. Collaborate and connect through project management tools

Project management tools, such as Trello, Slack, Asana, Monday, or Clickup, don’t just serve as efficiency tools. They also provide your marketing team and agency with a unified workplace, creating a teamwork environment.

Trello, for example, serves as my team’s central hub for communication and collaboration. My team can communicate and work together effectively through comments and tags on specific tasks, and everyone can track progress.

A sense of cohesion within the team, aided by digital tools, will help create a sense of common purpose. This way, each member of your team and the team you outsource to will be invested in helping you achieve your goals and engaged in the big picture, not just the tasks assigned to them.

It’s rewarding and gratifying to see your entire team working in unison and collaborating with an outside agency smoothly.

Increase the power of your brand

Growth requires more human power. Sometimes this power can be found in outside agencies. Hiring a digital marketing agency may seem difficult at first. However, once you’ve taken the first step, you’ll find that outsourcing frees up your time to work on scaling your business.
