Himachal Covid Care mobile app to connect Covid patients to doctors

To facilitate the reception of patients isolated from Covid-19, the state government has launched the Himachal Covid Care mobile app to connect asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic patients with their designated physicians. Through this app, doctors will be able to regularly monitor the health status of Covid-19 positive patients and make a quick decision about hospitalization of the critical patient, if necessary, an official spokesperson said.

About 90 percent of the more than 28,000 active cases in the state are isolated at home.

The spokesperson said the app allowed Covid-19 patients to self-register and provide their vital symptoms on the app which would be monitored by designated doctors. This mobile application would provide an online platform for all essential service providers and users such as patients, doctors and chief doctors, OR doctors, etc.

The application provides functionality for prescribing drugs, triage of deteriorating patients who need to be transferred to a health care facility. Administrators like CMO and BMO in the districts and state administrative officers can also monitor the health parameters of patients and also oversee the functioning of the district team, he said.

Direct calling, texting and WhatsApp features were also provided in the app to share information, the spokesperson said.

The application was developed by the National Computer Center. The app would soon be hosted on the Google Play Store but could be downloaded from the Himachal government’s website, he added.
