Loganville student named ‘artist of the week’ on national website

LOGANVILLE, GA – A student at Youth Elementary School in Loganville was named Artist of the Week on a national website dedicated to art students and their teachers.

Connor Springer’s illustration – a snowman on blue paper – received more than 1,100 online votes in Artsonia.com’s latest contest, according to an announcement from the website on Tuesday.

Springer’s teacher Noelle Smith said she was “thrilled” to see her students’ work recognized.

Youth Elementary will receive a $ 100 gift certificate and Springer will receive a $ 50 gift certificate from Blick Art Materials for winning this week’s vote.

Artsonia developed Artist of the Week 10 years ago to encourage teachers to submit student artwork and to get the school and community to vote and recognize students for their achievements.

Each week, Artsonia selects 12 random submissions in each of the four different age groups (PreK-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12) from the works submitted the previous week. Voting is then open to the public for several days before the winner is announced.

Artsonia bills itself as the world’s largest online student art collection, having so far amassed 80 million pieces. The website works with teachers to create online art galleries for schools and student art portfolios. Parents and loved ones can view the art online, leave comments, and order keepsakes featuring the artwork.
