New Delhi: Unlike other vital ID cards, it is easy to get another copy of your Aadhaar card in case it gets lost or misplaced. The Aadhaar card is now the most important personal document in India and it is required as proof of identity or proof of address. It is used for a multitude of services such as applying for a permanent account number, passport documentation, filing an income tax return (ITR), investing in mutual funds and much more.

If you’ve lost or misplaced your Aadhaar, don’t worry, as you can request a duplicate online. If the Aadhaar letter is lost or destroyed, the resident can order a reprint online at a cost of Rs 50 on the official UIDAI website. Payment can be made using credit card, debit card, online banking and UPI method. The reprinted Aadhaar letter is delivered to the resident by express mail.

It is important to note that in order to retrieve the lost Aadhaar, your Aadhaar details must have the correct cell phone number and email id registered. This is because when you apply online, you will receive OTP on your registered mobile phone number. This will help you get your Aadhaar back even if you forget your Aadhaar number or registration number.

Here is a step-by-step process for ordering the reprint of Aadhaar online:

  • Visit https://uidai.gov.in or https://resident.uidai.gov.in
  • Click on the “Order Aadhaar Card” service.
  • Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number (UID) or 16-digit Virtual Identification Number (VID) or 28-digit Registration ID.
  • Enter the security code
  • If you have TOTP, choose the “I have TOTP” option by clicking in the checkbox otherwise Click on the “Request OTP” button.
  • Enter OTP / TOTP received on the registered mobile number.
  • Click on the “Terms and Conditions” checkbox. (Note: click on the hyperlink to see the details).
  • Click the “Submit” button to complete the OTP / TOTP verification.
  • On the next screen, a preview of Aadhaar details will appear for resident verification before placing the order for reprint.
  • Click on “Make payment”. You will be redirected to the Payment Gateway page with payment options like credit / debit card, Net banking and UPI.
  • After successful payment, the receipt will be generated with a digital signature which can be downloaded by the resident in PDF format. The resident will also receive the service request number by SMS.
  • Resident can track SRN status until Aadhaar card is sent on Check Aadhaar card status.
  • SMS containing the AWB number will also be sent once sent by DoP. The resident can further track the delivery status by visiting the DoP website.

After receiving the Aadhaar reprint request order from the citizen, the UIDAI will deliver the printed letter to the DoP within 5 working days (excluding the date of the request). The reprint of the Aadhaar card will be delivered using the Department of Post’s (DoP) Speed ​​Post service. In line with DoP standards and delivery status.
