NBA Official Site Accidentally Calls Embiid MVP

Joel Embiid was one of the best players in the world this season and was one of three finalists for the NBA MVP award along with Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

You could make legitimate arguments for all 3 and you would be absolutely right. But everyone waits and waits just to find out who will actually win.

While we know we won’t know who the MVP is until the season is over, fans are clinging to every sign which one of the three might actually win it – even as we reach conspiratorial levels with this kind of things. .

Like this NBA.com recap article that accidentally listed Joel Embiid as MVP after Game 3 against the Miami Heat.

Yes, it happened.

OH MY WORD. SOUND THE ALARM. SEND SMOKE SIGNAL. IT’S DONE… Or not.

Look, it was just an accident. Embiid could very well win the MVP title again. But the NBA isn’t going to disclose that through a game recap article. That’s not how it works.

The article was eventually updated to say “MVP finalist” instead of MVP. It was just an accident by someone. Basketball News was on it.

Still, fans lost their minds about it.

Phew boy. Look how much excitement a mistake gave people. There is a lesson to be learned from all of this. And that lesson is this: The NBA needs to announce the awards before the playoffs start.

So we don’t have those problems.
