The CBDT said on Saturday that a new online tax payment system and a mobile app on its soon to be launched advanced e-filing website will be activated on June 18 even as the portal goes live on Monday.
The new e-filing link – www. Incometax.gov.in – will replace the HYPERLINK “https: // existing www. Incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in ‘existing – www. Incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in from June 7.
“It is specified that the new tax payment system will be launched on June 18, 2021 after the tax deposit date to avoid any inconvenience to taxpayers,” said the CBDT in a statement.

“The mobile application will also be released after the initial launch of the portal, to allow taxpayers to familiarize themselves with the different features,” said the CBDT.
The Central Commission on Direct Taxes (CBDT) oversees the policy of the income tax department, and the e-filing website is used by taxpayers to file their tax returns and perform other transactions with the department.
“Familiarization with the new system may take some time, therefore, the ministry is asking for the patience of all taxpayers / stakeholders for the initial period after the launch of the new portal and while other features are released as it becomes available. this is a major transition, ”the statement said. mentionned.

This is another initiative of the CBDT to facilitate compliance for its taxpayers and other stakeholders, he added.

The new taxpayer-friendly portal is integrated with Immediate Tax Return Processing (RTI) to issue prompt refunds to taxpayers and all interactions and downloads or pending actions will be displayed on a single dashboard for follow-up action by the taxpayer, he said. .
It will also have free RTI preparation software with interactive questions to help taxpayers file RTI 1, 4 (online and offline) and ITR 2 (offline) to get started and ease of RTI preparation. 3, 5, 6, 7 will be available shortly, according to the release.
Taxpayers will be able to proactively update their profile to provide certain income details including salary, home ownership, business / occupation which will be used to pre-populate their ITRs in the new web port. .

A new taxpayer assistance call center for quick response to taxpayer questions is also planned and the portal will also feature in-depth FAQs, user manuals, videos and a live chatbot / agent.

The existing web portal is currently subject to a six-day “blackout period” until June 6.
