Maui County’s volunteer center, HandsOn Maui, is offering a free virtual workshop this month for nonprofits to learn how to use email newsletters as a marketing tool.

The training will be held via Zoom in partnership with Miller Media Management from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sept. 28, the county announced Monday. Registration is now open.

An effective email marketing strategy can help nonprofits publicize volunteer needs and events. The free virtual class will cover how often to send a newsletter, how to write catchy headlines and newsletter content, and how to measure campaign success.

“When we surveyed our agencies, we found that many nonprofits in Maui County understand that email newsletters are a great tool, but don’t know how to use them effectively,” said Wendy Stebbins, volunteer center coordinator for the county’s Department of Housing and Human Affairs. “This workshop provides much-needed training for nonprofits to send out newsletters and announcements with confidence.”

Danielle Miller of Miller Media Management will lead the workshop. Miller will demonstrate how to create a newsletter template on Mailchimp and answer email marketing questions.
